Hello and welcome to Infamy & Entropy, the futuristic RPG that is here to quite possibly serve your darkest dreams. I know from experience that a place this big and this developed (over a year and growing is old as mold in RPG years, I know) can be quite daunting. This place was a little intimidating to all of us when we first joined. So here is something that we hope can help you.
This place, The Welcome Wagon, is here to serve you: the so-called “newbie”. Some people might take “newbie” as a derogatory term, but don’t: embrace that title and wear it proud because everyone loves a new person and a new character; plus, it’s clearly obvious that newbies get special treatment and basically, you have me as your slave. I’m here to please you and make you feel like King/Queen of the World and trust me, I know exactly how to do that.
Now, when all else fails and you’re just a scared, little newbie like I was when I first joined here, these links can definitely help you settle in here just fine. Just think of yourself as someone moving into a new apartment complex and this being one of your neighbors coming over with a plate of jello, a warm smile, and a very active mouth. These can help you out, just as surely as much as they helped me:- Character Plotting Section: The best thing you can possibly do is get your character out there first; I don’t mean to rub them in everyone’s faces, but it’s great if you start posting in people’s plots first. A lot of people wait and see who will post in their plot first, but to be honest, we’re also a little intimidated by newbies ourselves because they’re new and we don’t know how our characters will work. However, if you start posting in other people’s plots, we get to see your character and so do other people. A lot of people will look at the characters in other people’s plot pages, so your character is getting more face time if you make the first move. That way, you’ll start getting other people posting in your plot page because they’re interested in your character. Make the first move! Don’t be afraid.
- The “I’m New and I Want to Thread!” Thread: Like I said before, we like newbies and we want you to stay here and feel welcome. That’s why we have this place, which is an absolute gem. Active and devoted members have posted in here to help you. All you have to do is fill out the proper form and you are guaranteed one spankin’ new thread just for you and your character in forty-eight hours. I personally really like this a lot. It gives you, the new member, a chance to learn about some older characters on the sight, meet a new person to play with, and get yourself a thread all in one!
- The “My Plot Needs Some Love” Thread: If all else fails, you can always post in here. Or you could even post someone else’s plot page in here! It’s a nice thought. This little place thrives on giving back to others in order to be given something in return. By post in the the linked plot in the post above you, which helps that person out, you can then post a link to your plot or any other plot you wish in your post. Plotting is not your enemy; it’s your friend. ^^
- Threading Section: This is the place that you’re probably familiar with – it’s the place where you throw yourself out there and request a few threads. As a person that just joined another board, I found out again how just hard it could be to score a few threads. It’s best to say something about your character and link people to your plot page to get them interested (i.e. Kristine’s request for threads is a great example). However, don’t just request threads. There are plenty of other people requesting threads, too, so post in their request threads! Offer to post in their plot page or ask if they’d like to post in yours. When you help others out like that, it really puts a gold star in your cap and plus, you’ve got yourself a thread.
- Introductions Forum: Okay, so honestly, who likes introducing themselves? It can be a little weird in the C-Box since we all seem to know each other and junk, but trust me; we haven’t always known each other. But the Introduction Forum is different – it’s a place where you can be absolutely silly and ridiculous when talking about yourself. We want to know you – at least, I’d like to know you so I can glomp you and such without feeling weird. ^___^
- FAQs: If you aren't sure about something, or something seems a little unclear to you, there's a pretty good chance that someone has felt that exact same way. Check out the frequently asked questions thread to see some of the common things that trip people up, hopefully you'll find you're answer there!
- Questions?: If the FAQs have failed you, which sadly, is possible, here is the place where you can ask questions about the site, plot, or something else if you ever have any; it’s a place where even members that have been on here for a while come to ask questions and we always do our best to answer them to the best of our natural ability. Don’t be embarrassed to ask. Because remember, kiddos, there’s no such thing as a stupid question.
only stupid people  There’s no such thing as that either, unless you’re me, so you’re in luck there, too. - Off Topic- General Discussion: Get to know the kids you're playing with out of character! There are a lot of fun little nonsense games going on off topic and its a great way for you to make friends will all the lovely people here on I&E. You should also consider saying hello and joining in conversation in the cBox. The cBox is the OOC heartbeat of I&E. xD
- The Shop: Dudes. If there's one place you need to know about here on I&E, it's the shop. This is a great little place, probably the best project we have. Here, you can earn points for doing just about anything and then use those points to buy all sorts of super fabulous things. Big sellers are werewolf and vampire bites, school transfers, and work promotions. But we also sell small, fun, trivial things. Like love potions, invisibility cloaks, and the chance to become an animagus. This is also the place where you can get yourself a scrap character to use in one of your plots!
Finally, if you have anything even resembling a question that you simply cannot bring yourself to ask in that thread, feel free to PM me, Amanda, or my Co-Admin, Jayson. Or frankly, any member of the staff. You can find a staff roster with information here!. We're hospitable folk. And trust me, whatever you have to ask, I've been asked worst. But I wouldn't dream of sharing any of that xD. If you have an idea, once again, I’m begging you to attack me with PMs; if there is one thing I love, it’s plotting and anything concerning the plot. I’m also giving you permission to poke me whenever you feel like.
Now that you’ve had to endure all that rambling… once again: Welcome to I&E! I hope you have as much fun as I do. It’s a great place with great people, great characters, and great plots. Join the club. ^^
